During invasive removal

Marsh Creek Info

A meeting was held in 2002 to discuss non-native plant eradication
along Marsh Creek by SWIM (Surface Water Improvement Management, a
part of SWFWMD). Despite rumors to the contrary, the project scope
does NOT include sidewalks, boardwalks, hiking trails, etc. The
focus is strictly the removal of plants such as Brazilian pepper,
Australian pine, Lead tree, etc.

SWFWMD/SWIM is considering putting back funding into the project
during this budget cycle. Luckily, thanks to some input from local residents, the BOCC
has budgeted $50,000 in 2006 to the ISTF (Invasive Species Task Force) to
enable them to maintain the area where the invasives have already been removed.

Nature is resilient and even without further human help, the leather fern
is growing back and wildlife is utilizing the area.
